An introduction to single camera production techniques

An introduction to single camera production techniques Single Camera Techniques were introduced in the 1910s, taking on a single camera in order to achieve a shot from many different angles and positions. The way the camera is set up is through moving the camera after one shot is taken to place it in another angle you want to capture. In order to make this effective, it's important to remember continuity. When cutting a shot to then move the camera in another angle, it is easy to make errors from passing vehicles, empty bottles. Moving people in different places, each of these errors can create a sense of detachment from the show, so it is important to take care when resetting scenes and re shooting as it is extremely easy to make these errors only using one camera.  Camera techniques are used in the filmmaking world in order to help move forward with the context and n...

Evaluation: Corporate Video Production What brief did you respond to (what was the type / structure) and what were you tasked with completing? Who were you completing it for? The client brief was to complete and make a video displaying the NHS portraits provided to us by members of the public who had gone and painted portraits of working members of the NHS. These people being friends family and much loved members of the NHS dedicating all their time to help those in need of urgent care and assisting the public in the fight against Covid-19. The task was set by the client Sara, who is the curator and manager of the Yare Gallery, and through the brief we had to keep constant contact with the client in order to keep the correct structure which she desired. Portrait by David Gillingwater What was specified in the guidance from the client that you had to include / meet, and what was more flexible? Our client was brief with what the criteria included. This started with a basic outline of wha...

Submission of work  The BBC writers’ room is a year-round, script writing open call. They offer opportunities to be developed and produced for BBC broadcast by taking in scripts which provide the most potential. It’s important to look heavily into what the BBC are looking for as the different themes and categories should showcase a writer’s talent, ability, and voice entwined with the given scenario. Distinctive voices, captivating dialog, well-rounded, leaving the readers wanting to read more, are a few characteristics of what the BBC look for when picking out potential scripts from the submissions. It’s important to consider that original scripts written “on spec” are produced extremely rarely, and writers should not send them in with the expectation that they will be produced. However, original spec' scripts are the means by which writers get noticed, so there is the possibility that a writer should always write your script with the same level of commitment as if it were for pro...
