The Praxinoscope

Definition: The Praxinoscope is a toy whose function is to create a series of images that constantly change and consist of drawings that follow an order and sequence which are placed on a rotating cylinder which shows twelve frames for animation. It was invented in France in 1877 by Charles-Emile Reynaud

It consists of a cylinder with slits cut vertically in the sides.  As the cylinder spins, the user looks through the slits at the pictures across. These types of documentaries aim to inform/persuade the viewer through narration from outside the frame “voice of god”.
